Viñedo Singular
This is the exclusive edition of 1,956 bottles of wine that Pago de Larrea produces with the grape from the Viñedo Singular of the same name from the 2020 harvest. It is our most special vineyard. Planted in 1979 on the slope of Mount Miralobueno, in Elciego, it is watched over by the small vineyard guard that remembers and pays tribute to our father and founder, Luis Javier Larrea.

A Unique Vineyard guarded
by the Best Guardian/h3>
Tempranillo brought to its highest expression. The minerality of the underbrush as a reflection of the terroir. The exclusivity of an unforgettable wine obtained from the best grapes from this Viñedo Singular: El Guardián de la Viña.
But what is a Viñedo Singular?
A Viñedo Singular is a site with its own agro-geological and climatological characteristics that differentiate and distinguish it from others in its environment, from which wines with unique traits and qualities are obtained.
In 2017, the Regulatory Council of the Qualified Designation of Origin Rioja incorporated this new indication to recognize the origin of the wines.
These vineyards, which must be recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, must be over 35 years old, balanced, and of limited vigor. Additionally, they must be hand-harvested with a maximum yield of 5,000 kilos per hectare and a 65% transformation in the winery.
Only 3 out of every 1,000 hectares of the DOCa Rioja meet these conditions.
And not only that. Once made, the wine is subjected to a double qualitative evaluation. Moreover, in the second of these tastings, conducted by experts from the Regulatory Council, it must be rated as Excellent.
So we hope you enjoy every sip of this unique wine, that it transports you to our vineyard, and that, like us, it serves to remember El Guardián de la Viña.
